Thank you for the fantastic 1–to-1 coaching you gave our 10 year-old son just before Christmas. We couldn’t believe how much you taught him in such a short space of time, and it was brilliant to see him progress from never having worn skis to confidently leading us down blues by day three. Coaching from Stu for a few winters now preparing for ski instructor exams. Stu challenges and pushes hard but it’s always huge fun as well. My skiing has come up several level. Most highly recommended.

My daughter and two of her friends had lessons for 5 days last week with Stuart. As an internationally qualified instructor and BASI Trainer (he trains instructors), Stuart has to be at the top of his game, both as an instructor and high performance skier. This is a given. What is more important is his approach to learning: how and why is he different from his instructor peers.

Stuart’s method is derived from his own learning and the highest level coaching. It has been thoroughly tested. You will be immediately aware of the focus on functional body movements, starting from the feet up, and outcomes on the snow. He has stripped away most of unnecessary, and often confusing, stylistic aspects of instruction to concentrate on key skills, which can be easily understood and applied in all ski situations. Stuart is noticeably diligent and does not give up on his pupils. Learning is fun.

Stuart is everything you would expect from a top Basi Trainer. His sessions are always professionally structured, engaging and rewarding, but what sets Stuart out from the crowd is the high expectations he sets for himself as your coach. He personally strives for outstanding performance and quality and this comes through in his sessions and ultimately as an outcome in your own skiing. I’ve had some really nice compliments from skiers at the snowcentre in Hemel Hempstead and one person even said they almost fell off the lift straining to watch me ski down which surprised me as I haven’t been skiing that long and I don’t see myself in that way.

I now realise it’s probably because I’ve trained with Stuart from the beginning of my career as an instructor and the quality must show through. What I particularly like about Stuart is his ability to know exactly how far he can develop you at every session depending on your physical and emotional fitness levels. At times he has listened and helped me see things differently, overcoming mental and physical blockages in my performance, so I’ve shared some real wow moments with him. I also like his use of video analysis as a development tool which is like no other I’ve seen. I can’t recommend Stuart highly enough. He’s just brilliant.

If you are not sure about what instructor to book, then it will be hard and probably impossible to better Stuart. Stuart has encouraged my wife who really only skis because of me and now we often ski together. For me Stuarts feedback is always clear and never confusing. I would absolutely recommend Stuart whatever level of skier you are.

I had a private lesson with Stuart this January and found it very helpful. Wanted to master a bit of off piste & all terrain techniques. Stuart was able to give me good tips, explained it all well and I really felt I improved by the end of the lesson.
